Out of Body Experience
Between me and my husband, I’m the one who has had strange experiences throughout my life. I do vaguely recall having brief discussions with my maternal grandfather after he passed away when I was 6 years old. Of course, at that age, I didn’t understand what death was. I didn’t understand that I’d never see my grandpa again, wouldn’t get to spend the summers with him at the cottage in Janesville, Wisconsin, or the house on Fawell Street in Chicago, Illinois. I would never again go to Fannie Mae with him, or snuggle up on his lap in his Lazy-Boy recliner dozing off to a Chicago White Sox game on…

1889 McInteer Villa – Atchison, KS
The 1889 McInteer Villa is owned by Stephanie Neal and is located in Atchison, Kansas. Constructed 1889-1890 by John McInteer, this mansion sits on top of a hill and is surrounded by trees. There is an antique carriage on the front lawn hitched to a skeleton of a horse. This isn’t decoration for Halloween. The display represents the occupation of the original owner, John McInteer, an Irish immigrant, who made his fortune making saddles and harnesses. It is said that his work was good. Long ago, Atchison was one of the locations being considered for the capital city of Kansas. In the end, Kansas City won that honor. Atchison was…

Mason House Inn – Bentonsport, IA
Mason House Inn – Steeped in History End of July 2017, Jeff and I were at the Mason House Inn, located in Bentonsport, Iowa. The place has an amazing history dating back to at least the mid-1800s. Located on and surrounded by a region the Keokuk Indians called home, the building originally served as a hotel to steamboat travelers riding the waterways from St. Louis, Missouri to Fort Des Moines and Fort Dodge, Iowa on the Des Moines River. The structure has survived 6 major floods, the most recent being the flooding of 2008. Wounded soldiers stayed at the Mason House Inn during the Civil War as the building served…

Villisca Axe Murder House – Villisca, IA
Originally posted 2017-07-31 Astral Plane Paranormal paid the Villisca Axe Murder house a visit after seeing it featured on one of the popular ghost-hunting shows on TV and since it was a few hours away we figured why not? There are investigators out there who insist that Evil lurks inside the Villisca axe murder house. That is extremely doubtful. Anyone who wants to know the history of the Villisca axe murders can look it up on the net. The story in short: A family had been out for the evening. When everyone returned home they all got ready for bed and went to sleep. The kids had their neighbor friends…

Malvern Manor – Malvern, Iowa
Originally posted 2017-07-31 Astral Plane Paranormal recently spent the night at Malvern Manor located in Malvern IA. After hearing some recordings from the folks who gave us a quick tour of the place we were pretty excited to be spending the night and conducting our investigation. While the place does have a history – including abuse and deaths – (some question as to whether it was murder or suicide) I can honestly report that the night was a total bust. Jeff took a photo of our friends, Nick & Sue, as they sat on the stairs. There’s a streak in the photo but we can confirm it is NOT an…
